Boosting water pressure for residents

Working together with Thames Water, Argent have completed a programme of works at Cheylesmore House in Ebury Road to install booster sets following TWA's move to reduce water pressure to the apartment block.

When we were approached to carry out this tricky procedure, we were alerted to some key challenges:

  • internal pipework may need re-configuring to parts of the building;
  • water booster sets may need fitting;
  • alterations to the highest mains fed storage tank/s may be required;
  • we were to meet the high standards set by TWA guidelines and regulations.

… and the change over was to be achieved in one day!

We not only achieved this complex operation which incorporated:

  • fitting a GRP flame retardant kiosk over the existing meter pit to contain the booster sets;
  • installing water booster sets (Lowara vertical multi-stage pump model SV1603F30T) close coupled to a 3kW, 2900 rpm, IP55 motor (400-3-50) to maintain a constant 3 bar pressure;
  • fitting new WRAS approved pipework, control panels, valves, gauges and all necessary electrical work.

… but also maintained a supply of fresh drinking water to the building throughout.

The successful outcome was marked by not only the managing agents of the building but the residents themselves.
